For screw caps, simply turn the cap counterclockwise to open. It may take some light force at first, but it usually won't be very tight. But things won't always go so smoothly. This article discusses in detail how to open olive oil bottles with different stopper types, including tin cans.
There is a simple link navigation here, you can quickly find the corresponding opening method according to your bottle stopper type to save you time.
1. Screw cap
This is one of the most common types of bottle stoppers. Simply turn the cap counterclockwise to open. It may take some light force at first, but it usually won't be very tight.
But things may not be that simple.
If the lid spins infinitely, I'd guess it's probably designed to be child-resistant. To unlock it, you need to apply downward pressure while rotating, similar to the mechanism used in many pill bottles.
Of course, if this doesn't work, then you need to determine if it is a lid like the one below.
If it is this kind of lid, hold the smooth part tightly and twist the grooved part. This may be a disaster for some women with weak hand strength. When I was browsing videos on YouTube, I found that a smart person (@lorimclafferty9465) did this:
That’s right, she put a rubber band on the bottom (smooth part) of the lid to add friction so the lid can be easily twisted off! Cheers to her wisdom!
If none of the above works, the only recourse you have left is to forcefully break the lid and pour the olive oil into another olive oil container you have prepared. Note that some people have cut their hands on the sharp edges of the cap by trying to pull it off with force. So if you must do this, at least put a towel on to protect yourself. Also pay attention to safety when using other tools to damage the cover and don't injure yourself! This is the most important!
2. Oak stopper
Some specially designed olive oil bottles may have oak stoppers. You can gently remove the cork by hand, or use a small tool such as a cork puller.
3. Tin can
Pull up the tab on the cover, then lift it vertically, and finally turn the cover counterclockwise.
After use, screw the cap back on to maintain a seal. No need to press the lid down anymore.
The above are three common ways to open olive oil containers. Hopefully it helped you!
